Despite advances in monitoring technologies, AI-powered analytics, and updated industry standards, unexpected leaks and equipment failures continue to occur. The Missing Link: Connecting Data to Risk

One of the most common root causes is the disconnect between different data sources from corrosion monitoring data, corrosion prediction results and process data to the assessment of risk and probability of failure. Many Risk Based Inspection (RBI) programs remain largely static, while operating conditions continuously evolve. A low corrosion rate, whether measured or calculated, provides only a partial picture of an asset’s integrity when viewed without the context of failure likelihood. In fact, the overall probability of failure (or risk of failure when consequences are considered) may still be significant due to factors such as inadequate inspection techniques, outdated inspection data, or the advanced age of the asset.

Bridging the Gap
